Indoor Athletics Fun for Years 1 and 2

What a fantastic afternoon of athletics, enjoyed by over 120 pupils from 15 teams at Mark Hall Sports Centre. Although circumstances dictated that the Indoor Sportshall Athletics ran differently this year, all the schools have agreed that all the events were a huge success and are putting in steps to expand the number of festivals and purchase our own equipment for next year.

The pupils from Years 1 and 2 ran three track races (obstacle, 1 lap relay and the over/under relay) and took part in 4 field events (speed bouncers, chest push, javelin and standing long jump), with the event divided into 3 heats to accommodate the large number of teams.

Sports Leaders from Mark Hall were on hand to officiate and demonstrate events, guiding the youngest pupils through some tricky events with great empathy and consideration. Thanks were given to Mr. Dawes, who alongside his MHA PE colleagues have trained the leaders over previous weeks in order to provide fantastic support.

Their were a number of fantastic performances but the overriding feeling was of great pride for the amazing teamwork on display. The children had a blast and received a Scholl Games sticker at the end of the event.

Teams taking part were:

Cooks Spinney; Milwards; Fawbert and Barnard x 2; Church Langley, Little Parndon x 2; Henry Moore; St Nicholas; Jerounds x 2; Purford Green; William Martin; and Hare Street x 2
